Why we publish this
When you search for a specialist, the order in which professionals appear is not neutral: it shapes who you end up choosing. That is why the full criterion is written here, in a document with a version and a date, rather than living in somebody's head.
If we ever change how we rank, the version of this text changes.
Who appears in search
A professional appears in the results only when they meet all seven requirements, without exception:
- Verification. Their licence is confirmed against the public registry of the Sistema Autónomo de Contraloría Sanitaria (SACS) and their identity was checked with an official document and biometrics. How we do it is described in How we verify.
- Mandatory credentials and documents uploaded and complete.
- A profile photo.
- An introduction they wrote themselves, at least 50 characters long.
- At least one practice location.
- At least one published schedule block.
- Having pressed «Publish my profile». Publishing is the professional's own act, not something we do for them.
If a single one is missing, they do not appear in search. Not lower down: not at all. An unpublished professional, or one without a valid licence, is out of the listing — even though their profile still exists for anyone who already holds the direct link, such as their patients or an already-booked appointment.
In what order
Among those who meet all seven requirements, the order is always the same and is computed like this:
- Average rating, highest first. It is the average of the reviews left by patients who had a real appointment on Amedi.
- Number of reviews, highest first, as the tie-breaker. Between two professionals with the same rating, the one whose rating rests on more opinions comes first.
There is no hidden third criterion. No editorial score, no seniority weight, no manual adjustment per professional.
What filters do
Filters — speciality, insurance, city, modality, date, «verified only» — narrow the set: they remove whoever does not match what you asked for. They do not reorder the ones that remain. Within the filtered result, the order is still rating and then number of reviews.
When you filter by date we additionally show each professional's available slots for that day; that changes what you see on each card, not its position.
What does NOT influence it
- Nobody pays to rank higher. We do not sell position, bids or «priority in results». No fee, plan or commercial agreement with Altiora Tech, C.A. alters the order.
- The professional's consultation fee has no influence.
- How much they use Amedi, how many appointments they close or how much they bill has no influence.
- No personal relationship with the Amedi team has any influence.
If a featured or paid placement ever exists, it will carry the word «Destacado» visibly above it, separated from the ranked listing and never mixed into it. That is not a marketing promise: it is the rule this document binds us to.
Reviews
Only someone who had a real appointment with that professional on Amedi can review them. Reviews are not bought, not edited in anyone's favour and not deleted at the professional's request. They are removed only when they break the content rules — third-party personal data, insults, illegal content — and that decision is logged.
